New Technology Coming to All Vehicles in Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram Lineup in Future

Stellantis, the parent company of brands that we offer here at Fox Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Grand Rapids have big plans for the future of the vehicles you'll find here at the dealership. This includes everything from autonomous driving to more electric vehicles. We're highlighting what's to come, so you can anticipate how vehicles here in our showroom are able to provide you with a better drive!

New Vehicle Intelligence Platforms

Cars, trucks, and SUVs are now more advanced than ever, with many features being utilized to make your drive easier, safer, and more efficient. The plan for the future, starting in 2024 is to deploy three new artificial intelligence (AI) platforms to the new global vehicle platform. This includes the ability to utilize over-the-air updates to the software so the vehicle you drive is getting updated, and can adapt to give you the drive you desire. These are:

• STLA Brain: this is the new electrical/electronic software architecture which is cloud integrated, and will allow new features to be added to your vehicle through over-the-air updates without the need to wait for a new launch or have a service visit to the dealership to get new software updates.
• STLA SmartCockpit: this system integrates the lives of those who drive the vehicle into a personalized space. You'll be able to access a new generation of voice assistance, navigation, and payment services, and create a specific driving experience for you.
• STLA AutoDrive: on this technology, there is an added increase on autonomous driving capabilities, which includes the likes of semi-automated lane change as the brands we have grow to offer more ways to give you a different type of drive.

Electrification and Autonomous Driving

We've seen a few options come to our showroom as vehicles that can provide some electric driving capability such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe and Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. Stellantis and the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram brand look to further that in the future. Currently, the course is set for 50 percent of auto sales in the United States to be battery electric vehicles by the end of the decade (2030). This is going to be accomplished on four different platforms to deliver standout driving ranges and charging times, with the hope of providing 500 miles of range on select platforms and 20 miles per minute at fast-charging sites, as well as best-in-class energy storage and demand.

As mentioned, there are efforts to increase autonomous driving technology on new vehicles in the future. Each automaker is developing different levels of autonomous driving from those where you can remove hands from the steering wheel and accelerator on selected roads while traveling at a set and safe distances, to being able to access real-time information via 5G so roads are safer and vehicles have better communication to drive autonomously. Current projects are underway to test this, and we anticipate more features arriving on new vehicles here in Grand Rapids in the coming years.
